A Gateway Week, Mapped: Where The Neighborhood Actually Goes Monday Through Sunday

If you live off Griffin or Stoneybrook, you already know the tourist version of Gateway. Spring training crowds spill out of JetBlue Park in March, the golf course fills up in season, and every "what to do in Fort Myers" article sends you twenty minutes west to the River District. That is not the version you live in from June through September. The resident version is quieter, tighter, and organized around a surprisingly small number of places that do a lot of work.

The Thesis, Stated Plainly

Gateway's weeknight social life runs through one address more than any other, and most residents are still treating it like a weekend stop. The Fort Myers Brewing taproom at 12811 Commerce Lakes Drive, Suite 28, is open seven days a week and features food trucks daily, live music, and family- and pet-friendly events year-round. Seven days. Not "weekends plus trivia." Seven. Once you see the full week laid out, the rest of the Gateway calendar — the dinner spots, the Sky Walk errands, the seasonal festivals — starts to make more sense as satellites around that anchor.

Here is what the week actually looks like inside our 3,000-acre bubble.

The Weekly Rhythm At #FMBrew

I pulled this straight from the brewery's own event calendar. Print it, screenshot it, whatever works.

The interesting move here is Tuesday. A 6:30 p.m. run that ends at a taproom bar with trivia at 7 is the closest thing Gateway has to a standing social club that costs nothing to join. If you have been looking for a way to meet neighbors that does not involve an HOA committee, this is it.

The scale behind that calendar is worth a beat. Fort Myers Brewing was the first microbrewery to open in Lee County when it launched in March 2013, and it now operates from a 22,000-square-foot facility with a four-vessel, 30-barrel system producing 15,000 barrels annually and distributing to more than 1,600 bars, restaurants, and retail locations across the state. That is not a hobbyist taproom. That is a real production brewery that happens to sit in our zip code.

Co-founder Jen Whyte put the ethos this way when the brewery announced its summer festival:

"Grouper Fest has become one of our favorite traditions because it's everything Fort Myers Brewing is about: incredible beer, live music, community, and not taking yourself too seriously."

Community and not taking yourself too seriously is a fair description of what most residents want from a weeknight out. Nobody moved to Gateway for velvet ropes.

When You Do Not Want The Brewery

Some nights call for a table, a server, and a menu. The bench of walk-in dinner options within a short drive of most Gateway front doors is stronger than newcomers usually realize. A rolling look at Yelp's Gateway-area rankings in 2026 puts the following near the top:

• Boulevard Deli & Tavern — the neighborhood tavern most residents default to when nobody wants to decide.
• Skinny Dogz — casual, local, easy weeknight.
• Fat Katz — sports and wings crowd.
• The Saucy Meatball — Italian, family-sized portions.
• Fancy's Southern Cafe — Southern comfort menu.
• Artisan Eatery — brunch-forward, breakfast tacos and made-to-order plates.
• Gandules Grill — Puerto Rican, one of the more distinctive menus in the immediate area.
• Fiddlesticks Cafe — casual daytime option inside the country club footprint.

That list is stitched together from the current Yelp rankings for Gateway 33913 and the Gateway Boulevard corridor, last updated May 2026, with Oar & Iron, Skinny Dogz, Fat Katz, The Saucy Meatball, Fancy's Southern Cafe, Casa Lupita Cafe, Boulevard Deli & Tavern, Fiddlesticks Cafe, Artisan Eatery, and Gandules Grill leading the list.

If you want white-tablecloth, you are driving. If you want to eat well in shorts and be home in fifteen minutes, you are not.

There is also The Club at Gateway for members and their guests, which most residents forget hosts a full dining program in addition to the golf calendar. And for the standing weekly errand that turns into a coffee, the Publix inside the Sky Walk Shopping Center sits between the airport and Gateway on Lee County Airport Authority land and anchors a growing lineup of smaller retailers and services in the same development.

Marking The Calendar: What Just Happened And What Is Coming

Two things matter here for anyone building a summer and fall calendar right now.

What just wrapped. If you missed it, take this as a preview for next year. Fort Myers Brewing ran Grouper Fest for three consecutive weekends from Friday, June 12 through Sunday, June 28, 2026, with exclusive beer releases, live music, food trucks, games, contests, and limited-edition merchandise. The festival kicked off with a "First Pour" at 6 p.m. on June 12, debuting a 2026 Grouper lineup of six festival-exclusive beers including the new Lil' Grouper, a Session Hazy IPA. The final weekend closed out June 26–28 with the last merch drop and headline sets from Charlie Pace, DJ Bigs, and Rock Republic. A neighbor who told me they "keep meaning to check out the brewery" and then missed Grouper Fest is the exact person this post is for.

What is coming. Oktoberfest is the next big anchor on the FMBrew calendar. The 2025 edition ran four days with specialty beers, food trucks, and live music from Chasing Denver, Ben Allen Band, Rock Republic, Austin James, and Gator Nate, family- and dog-friendly, with free entry all weekend. Between now and then, the Thursday Food Truck Rally is the single easiest way to sample the neighborhood's rotating food truck bench without committing to a full sit-down dinner. If you have kids, the family- and dog-friendly framing is not marketing language, it is how the space actually reads on a Thursday afternoon.

Why This Matters If You Live Here

The pattern under all of this is that Gateway rewards residents who treat the neighborhood as a self-contained week rather than a launching pad to somewhere else. The community sits on more than 3,000 acres of neighborhoods, schools, parks, trails, dog parks, community pools, a six-field soccer complex, Sky Walk Shopping Center, Fort Myers Brewing Company, and the Boston Red Sox Spring Training facility, with an extensive business park anchoring the daytime economy. Almost every daily need is inside that footprint. The people who love living here are usually the ones who figured out the weekly rhythm within their first six months. The people who feel a little disconnected are usually still commuting their social life out to the River District on a Friday night.

You do not need to pick one. You need to know both are options, and Gateway's version is the one you can walk out the door and be at in ten minutes.

One Last Practical Note

The brewery sits in an industrial-park pocket off Commerce Lakes Drive. First-timers routinely drive past the entrance. Put the address in your phone before you leave: 12811 Commerce Lakes Drive, Suite 28. Bring a lawn chair on event nights, because when the live music is good, seating disappears fast.
